BACKGROUND:
Mr. Sunny Akhigbe is an Author, Actor, High End Fashion Model, IFBB Pro Men’s Body Physique Model, Motivational Speaker, Mentor and a Masters Degree Scholar, graduating from a reputable US Prestigious University.
Mr. Akhigbe’s book, “A Boy and His Dream”, was released in July of 2015. The book relays a powerful story and the struggles of a young boy growing up in Nigeria, the struggles he endured and how he strived to overcome those early challenges. From hunger to being ostracized by a polygamist family, he experienced severe poverty while growing up. At the same time, his elders imparted important lessons that Mr. Akhigbe took to heart, including the message that he was in charge of his own destiny.
Learning by trial and error and with guidance from God, Sunny tells how he became immigrated to the United States educated, earned several degrees, having come a long way from being an abused little boy in Nigeria, to the man he is today.
Aside from Mr. Akhigbe’s accomplishments with his book, he is also a man of integrity who has utilized his skill base to give back to the youth as leaders of tomorrow. He served as a correctional officer in a probation/prison system in Indiana, USA., in order to get a first hand look at what the issues were, surrounding the cause of why so many of our young youth are in the system.
After his mission was accomplished at the Prison system, he went on to accept employment at a Youth Counseling service that caters to youths who are in crisis and suffering from dysfunctional families with the end result being where they are placed in the court system and probation departments. Mr. Akhigbe , served for 9 years as the Regional Director where he had jurisdiction over 3 counties working closely with the Court System and Probation Departments to rehabilitate the Youth and integrate them back into society and back with their families, in order that they might have a productive and opportune future. His success rate was astronomical. He received many awards and recognition for his positive reinforcement and efforts.
Sunny went on to serve for two terms where he was elected by the Mayor to serve on the Human Rights Commission for Laporte County in Indiana, USA. He was an advocate for the rights of all people and was exemplary in his terms.
Sunny has been featured in Newspaper editions, appearing on the front page, magazines articles and has been on several television program series, such as Chicago PD and Empire, as well as Ebony Television in Nigeria, and radon broadcast. He has done both print and commercial endeavors as well.
Mr. Akhigbe honours public speaking engagements, where he goes into the high schools, junior highs and church youth groups, speaking to the youth to relay his mission and message that if he were able to overcome, they too can achieve their goals. He also speaks at Rotary Club luncheons where he emphasizes that there is nothing one can’t do, as all things are possible and achievable with the right mindset, as he has proven this to be true.
Mr. Akhigbe is in Nigeria to tell the youth and leaders of tomorrow that when he was 18 years old, he came to the United States of America and could not read or write. He tells of how he overcame this situation and went on to achieve his Master’s Degree from Purdue University in Indiana, USA.
Mr. Akhigbe has a huge social media following in the United States as well as Internationally and will continue to focus his efforts on reinforcing positive motivation and encouragement to all that he meets.
His love for High End Fashion Modeling and his desire to thrive in his competitive world of IFBB Pro competition is a personal mission to himself to excel in all that he does. Those activities also justify that one can achieve and be or do anything they set out to do.
As Sunny will echo “...as with so many things in my life, I have been met with a thousand (1000) no’s of rejection and doors being closed on my vision. I will not give up as it only takes one (1) yes to open a world of wonder and move forward with a dream that I am so passionate about. I will not give up until I have reached every media group, magazine, newspaper and radio program, to spread the word of my mission. It takes a village to raise a child and it will take a village of positive professionals to spread my word and reach out to every corner of the universe where the words I speak are ones that need to be told, and with the help of your telecommunications organization, I know that this mission will be fulfilled before I die.”
